What made you decide to become a Wellness Coach?
I have always had an interest in health psychology and wellness, I have degrees in both psychology and exercise science so it was a natural fit for me. The interplay of mind and body is often the biggest factor that determines our health behaviors.

What is the biggest challenge for you as a Wellness Coach?
Many people think they are ready to make changes and they want better health, but they aren’t always ready to sacrifice as much as is needed to achieve their goals.

What has been your most rewarding experience as a Wellness Coach?
There are moments in the process where you literally see the “lightbulb” come on for people and their perspective instantly changes; and then the real work can begin.

What is your favorite motivational quote or motto?
Helen Hayes is quoted as saying “If you rest, you rust.” I also love Steven Covey’s advice to “Start with the end in mind.” It reminds me to decide what the goal or destination is before spending a lot of effort working to get there.

Give a tip (what is your philosophy) you’d like to share to help others on their fitness journey?
Zig Ziglar always used to say “If you aim at nothing you will hit it every time.” I would encourage everyone to spend quality time thinking about their wellness goals in depth, paint a picture or vision of who they would be at their best self, and then start taking small steps to get there.

What does Carmen believe it takes to reach your goals?
I believe that rarely an individual accomplishes something worthwhile completely on their own and that no matter the destination; the journey is made easier with someone traveling at your side. Lifestyle habits are incredibly challenging to change and it starts with a change in thought processes. Creating the life you want begins with creating a vision of your best self and moving toward that goal day by day.
