A health coach is a supportive guide who helps clients set health goals, whether to lose weight, improve energy, better manage stress, and much more. In addition to being a mentor who holds clients accountable, health coaches are vital members of the greater healthcare team, bridging the gap between traditional healthcare and enacting sustainable and positive behavioral lifestyle changes.
Health Coaching vs. Personal Training
Health coaching is the development of healthy lifestyle habits while personal training focuses on fitness, weight and body composition goals.
Personal trainers design fitness programs, demonstrate proper exercise execution, assess progress, and adjust training plans as needed.
Health coaches guide clients through building self-care skills, habits, and healthy behaviors crucial for optimal wellness. They help their client find the tools and strategies they need to make better lifestyle choices and achieve their health goals.

The Center’s professional therapists work to relieve the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches, joint pain, and edema. According to the American Heart Association, walking has the lowest dropout rate of any physical activity. Think it doesn’t do any good? Think again. Walking is low impact; easier on the joints than running. It is safe – with a doctor’s okay – for people with orthopedic ailments, heart conditions, and those who are more than 20% overweight. In addition, research has shown that you could gain two hours of life for each hour of regular exercise! That quick stroll around the block seems a little more worthwhile now, doesn’t it?
Walk with a Doc is a walking program for everyone interested in taking steps for a healthier lifestyle. What better way to start your weekend than on your feet making strides to help your heart and improving your general health to live longer! While you walk at your own pace, you’ll have the opportunity to have questions answered by local physicians.
This program was started in Columbus, OH in April of 2005 by Dr. David Sabgir and has now expanded throughout the world. You don’t need any special gear and there are no special rules. Just put on a pair of comfortable shoes and walk alone, with friends, a partner or family or with a group. It’s a personal preference.
Walk with a Doc is powered by The Center for Health Improvement and HaysMed Volunteers.

“Participating in the Weight Loss Solutions (WLS) program was one of the best decisions I have made for my overall physical health as well as my mental health. The WLS team has been an invaluable resource for me. They have offered the support and education that I have been lacking with past failed weight loss attempts. The program has been life changing for me! You will get the results when you do the work and follow the guidance of the WLS team. I encourage everyone to make themselves a priority and enroll in the WLS program.”
