Established in 2000, the DAISY Foundation was founded in memory of Patrick Barnes, acknowledging the significant influence exceptional nurses had on him and his family. The name “DAISY” is linked to the autoimmune disease he battled, ITP (Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura). The DAISY award is accompanied with a daisy pin for awardees to wear to serve as a daily reminder of how much their caring efforts and outstanding customer service are appreciated by their patients and family members as well as HaysMed.
By awarding nurses that bring outstanding compassion and kindness to the bedside of patients in hospitals across the nation, the DAISY Foundation hopes to bring awareness to us all regarding how important a role nurses can and do play in our lives. Hays Medical Center is proud to be a DAISY Award Partner by honoring our own outstanding nurses.
