A Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is a medically aligned field that requires an advanced degree such as a Master’s or Doctorate to practice. Most therapist also obtain and hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), as a nationally recognized professional credential, from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
SLP’s diagnose and treat communication, swallowing, voice and other related disorders in the following settings:
- Hospitals (acute inpatient, rehab units, etc.)
- Outpatient Rehabilitation setting
- Home Health
- Private Practices
- Skilled Nursing Facilities
- Schools
